Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium
Orange 75ml
Bold, warm, and fully saturated: the heavy body orange for vivid impasto and palette knife colour.

Orange in the Dimension Acrylic Premium range is a full-strength, fully saturated warm orange based on PO43 (Perinone Orange), delivering the kind of vivid, fire-bright hue that would take several layers to build from a red-yellow mix. Bright, bold, and immediate, it is the colour of autumn leaves, vivid sunset passages, hot embers, and rich impasto marks. In the ultra-thick heavy body formula, it sits on the palette knife with the same firm, sculptural quality as every other colour in the range, making it just as suitable for three-dimensional impasto work as for conventional painting. Dries to a gloss finish with a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.

★ Art Shed Staff Tip
Use Orange straight from the tube for the most saturated sunset and autumn passages. To shift it toward red-orange, add a touch of Permanent Red. To shift it toward yellow-orange, add Medium Yellow. Both moves preserve the vivid saturation that makes this colour worth using.

What Makes This Colour Essential

Consistency
Ultra-Thick Heavy Body
Orange arrives in the full ultra-thick Dimension Acrylic Premium formula, sitting firm on the palette knife and holding every ridge and peak without slumping as it dries.
Saturation
Maximum Colour Intensity
PO43 Perinone Orange delivers near-maximum saturation from the tube. No red-yellow mixing is needed to arrive at this vivid hue: it is ready to use immediately for bold, high-intensity colour work.
Mixing
Anchors the Warm Half of the Wheel
Orange's position in the spectrum makes it an excellent base for warm earth mixing. With brown and raw pigments, it deepens into rich terracotta. With white, it shifts through apricot toward a warm cream.
Lightfastness
Blue Wool Level 7+ / ASTM I
Rated at Blue Wool Level 7 or above (equivalent to ASTM I), Dimension Acrylic Premium Orange is formulated to remain unchanged for more than 100 years under museum-quality lighting conditions. Purpose-built for archival and professional work.

Mixing with Orange

Orange is most powerful when used at or near full strength. Its high saturation means it retains vivid colour even when mixed with earthy or dark pigments.

About Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium

Founded in Australia in 2002, Mont Marte creates high-quality fine art materials for students, hobbyists, and professional artists worldwide. Dimension Acrylic Premium is their flagship heavy body range: an ultra-thick, high-viscosity acrylic formulated for impasto work, palette knife painting, and any technique that demands a paint that holds its shape. With a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating (equivalent to ASTM I), the 48-colour range is built for serious, permanent work. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.

Is Orange in Dimension Acrylic a true orange or a red-orange?

Orange (PMDA0008) is a warm, balanced orange sitting centrally in the orange spectrum. It leans neither heavily toward red nor toward yellow. For a red-orange, add Permanent Red. For a yellow-orange, add Medium Yellow or Deep Yellow.

Can I use Dimension Acrylic Orange with a palette knife?

Yes. Palette knife application is one of the primary uses for Dimension Acrylic Premium. The ultra-thick formula sits firm on the knife, deposits a clean hard-edged layer on the surface, and holds the shape of each mark as it dries without slumping. Apply straight from the tube for maximum texture and sharp ridges.

Can I mix Orange to arrive at the same result?

You can approximate a similar orange by mixing Medium Yellow and Azo Vermillion or Permanent Red, but the result will be less saturated than a single-pigment orange straight from the tube. Dimension Acrylic Premium Orange gives maximum saturation instantly without the mudding effect of a multi-pigment mix.

How long does Dimension Acrylic Orange take to dry?

Thin applications dry in 20-30 minutes. Heavy impasto builds applied with a palette knife can take 1-2 hours to dry fully. Drying time extends in cold or humid conditions. Do not apply a second thick layer over the first until the lower layer has dried completely to the touch.

What surfaces can I use Dimension Acrylic Orange on?

Canvas, board, wood, air-dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather, and most rigid plastics. For best adhesion on non-porous or slick surfaces, apply a coat of gesso or acrylic primer first. Dimension Acrylic Premium is compatible with all Mont Marte acrylic mediums, gels, and impasto pastes.
