Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium
Monastral Green 75ml
The deepest, most powerful green: a transparent dark for foliage depth and bold contemporary colour.

Monastral Green is the deepest, most intense green in the Dimension Acrylic Premium range, based on PG7 (Phthalo Green Blue Shade). Extremely powerful, transparent, and with very high tinting strength, it delivers the colour of deep forest shadow, dense dark foliage, and bold contemporary dark-green passages. A small amount added to any other green darkens and intensifies it dramatically. Used as a glaze over lighter greens, it builds the kind of dark, luminous depth found in deep shade under a dense canopy. In the ultra-thick heavy body formula, it holds knife marks and sculptural texture without slumping. Dries to a gloss finish with a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.

★ Art Shed Staff Tip
PG7 has extremely high tinting strength: use Monastral Green sparingly in any mix. Add it to other greens in tiny amounts to deepen them without muddying. Straight from the tube in thick impasto, it gives a dramatic, almost black-green that reads as deep jungle or sea floor.

Glazing

About Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium

Founded in Australia in 2002, Mont Marte creates high-quality fine art materials for students, hobbyists, and professional artists worldwide. Dimension Acrylic Premium is their flagship heavy body range: an ultra-thick, high-viscosity acrylic formulated for impasto work, palette knife painting, and any technique that demands a paint that holds its shape. With a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating (equivalent to ASTM I), the 48-colour range is built for serious, permanent work. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.

Why is Monastral Green so dark?

PG7 (Phthalo Green) is an inherently very dark, very intense pigment. Even in thick application it appears very dark because of its deep colour. It is intended as a darkening and glazing green rather than a standalone mid-green.

Can I use Dimension Acrylic Monastral Green with a palette knife?

Yes. Palette knife application is one of the primary uses for Dimension Acrylic Premium. The ultra-thick formula sits firm on the knife, deposits a clean hard-edged layer on the surface, and holds the shape of each mark as it dries without slumping. Apply straight from the tube for maximum texture and sharp ridges.

Can I use Monastral Green to mix black?

Almost. Mixed with its complement Azo Vermillion or Permanent Red, Monastral Green makes a very dark, nearly neutral dark that is more interesting than Lamp Black in most contexts.

How long does Dimension Acrylic Monastral Green take to dry?

Thin applications dry in 20-30 minutes. Heavy impasto builds applied with a palette knife can take 1-2 hours to dry fully. Drying time extends in cold or humid conditions. Do not apply a second thick layer over the first until the lower layer has dried completely to the touch.

What surfaces can I use Dimension Acrylic Monastral Green on?

Canvas, board, wood, air-dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather, and most rigid plastics. For best adhesion on non-porous or slick surfaces, apply a coat of gesso or acrylic primer first. Dimension Acrylic Premium is compatible with all Mont Marte acrylic mediums, gels, and impasto pastes.
