What You Can Mix From These Six Colours

The colour selection in this set is based on classical limited-palette theory. The warm primary triad (Cadmium Yellow Hue, Cadmium Red Hue, French Ultramarine) covers the three primary colours from which all secondary colours can be mixed. Yellow plus Red gives orange. Red plus Blue gives violet. Blue plus Yellow gives green. In each case, the mixed secondary will be more muted than a pre-mixed secondary colour straight from a tube, but this is intentional: the muted, slightly neutralised secondaries produced by limited-palette mixing are often more naturalistic and easier to integrate into a painting than chromatic tube colours applied directly.
