Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium
Cream 75ml
Warm, pre-mixed off-white for backgrounds, flesh lights, and soft impasto highlights.

Cream is a warm off-white in the Dimension Acrylic Premium range, pre-mixed to a soft, buttery tone that sits between white and Naples Yellow. Where Titanium White can read as stark and cold against warm passages, Cream integrates naturally into sunlit highlights, aged plaster backgrounds, pale flesh lights, and any passage that needs light without chill. The heavy body ultra-thick formula means that Cream, like every colour in the 48-colour Dimension Acrylic range, holds palette knife ridges and brushstroke peaks without slumping. Dries to a gloss finish with a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.

★ Art Shed Staff Tip
Cream works beautifully as a pre-toned background coat for warm-subject paintings. Knife it onto canvas over a dry ochre or sienna layer for a rich, aged-plaster surface with built-in texture before the main work begins.

What Makes This Colour Essential

Consistency
Ultra-Thick Heavy Body
Cream delivers the same ultra-thick, high-viscosity formula as every Dimension Acrylic Premium colour. Palette knife ridges, textured strokes, and impasto builds hold their form without slumping and dry permanently in place.
Warmth
Pre-Mixed Warm Off-White
Cream's warm PY42 base gives it a natural, inviting tone that reads as sunlight, aged linen, or warm plaster. Unlike a tinted white mixed on the palette, it is consistent tube to tube and does not shift cool as it dries.
Versatility
Backgrounds and Highlights
Cream is equally useful as a full background colour and as a highlight tone. Its warm opacity means it reads as light without the stark contrast that pure white can produce against warm-keyed subjects.
Lightfastness
Blue Wool Level 7+ / ASTM I
Rated at Blue Wool Level 7 or above (equivalent to ASTM I), Dimension Acrylic Premium Cream is formulated to remain unchanged for more than 100 years under museum-quality lighting conditions. Purpose-built for archival and professional work.

Mixing with Cream

Cream is most useful as a warm alternative to Titanium White when mixing highlights or tints for warm-keyed subjects. Its pre-mixed warmth saves significant palette time on sunlit passages.

About Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium

Founded in Australia in 2002, Mont Marte creates high-quality fine art materials for students, hobbyists, and professional artists worldwide. Dimension Acrylic Premium is their flagship heavy body range: an ultra-thick, high-viscosity acrylic formulated for impasto work, palette knife painting, and any technique that demands a paint that holds its shape. With a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating (equivalent to ASTM I), the 48-colour range is built for serious, permanent work. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.

How is Cream different from mixing Titanium White with Yellow Ochre?

A pre-mixed Cream is consistent in tone every time you use it and does not shift as it dries. Mixing Titanium White with Yellow Ochre on the palette gives variable warmth depending on the ratio and can shift slightly cooler as the white component dries. Dimension Acrylic Premium Cream is formulated to a fixed warm off-white from the tube.

Can I use Dimension Acrylic Cream with a palette knife?

Yes. Palette knife application is one of the primary uses for Dimension Acrylic Premium. The ultra-thick formula sits firm on the knife, deposits a clean hard-edged layer on the surface, and holds the shape of each mark as it dries without slumping. Apply straight from the tube for maximum texture and sharp ridges.

Is Cream opaque enough to cover a dark ground?

Yes. Cream is opaque and will cover most mid-toned grounds in one heavy body application. Over very dark grounds, a second pass may be needed to achieve full coverage. The ultra-thick formula ensures the colour stands proud of the surface with good texture.

How long does Dimension Acrylic Cream take to dry?

Thin applications dry in 20-30 minutes. Heavy impasto builds applied with a palette knife can take 1-2 hours to dry fully. Drying time extends in cold or humid conditions. Do not apply a second thick layer over the first until the lower layer has dried completely to the touch.

What surfaces can I use Dimension Acrylic Cream on?

Canvas, board, wood, air-dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather, and most rigid plastics. For best adhesion on non-porous or slick surfaces, apply a coat of gesso or acrylic primer first. Dimension Acrylic Premium is compatible with all Mont Marte acrylic mediums, gels, and impasto pastes.
