Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium
Sap Green 75ml
The workhorse landscape green: naturalistic, versatile, and perfect for foliage mixing.

Sap Green is the all-purpose landscape green in the Dimension Acrylic Premium range, based on a blend of PY83 (Diarylide Yellow) and PG7 (Phthalo Green). It delivers a warm, naturalistic mid-green that reads immediately as foliage: the green of summer leaves in full sun, hedgerow growth, and garden foliage. Not as vivid as Emerald Green, not as muted as Terre Verte, not as dark as Monastral Green: Sap Green sits in the centre of the naturalistic green family and serves as the starting point for the full range of foliage colour through mixing. In the ultra-thick heavy body formula, it holds knife marks and impasto texture without slumping. Dries to a gloss finish with a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.

★ Art Shed Staff Tip
Sap Green is the most useful single green in a landscape palette. To get the full foliage range, shift it toward yellow for sunlit leaves, toward Hookers Green Deep or Monastral Green for deep shadow foliage, and toward Yellow Ochre or Raw Umber for autumn passages.

About Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium

Founded in Australia in 2002, Mont Marte creates high-quality fine art materials for students, hobbyists, and professional artists worldwide. Dimension Acrylic Premium is their flagship heavy body range: an ultra-thick, high-viscosity acrylic formulated for impasto work, palette knife painting, and any technique that demands a paint that holds its shape. With a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating (equivalent to ASTM I), the 48-colour range is built for serious, permanent work. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.

Is Sap Green named after plant sap?

The name derives from the historical Sap Green, which was made from buckthorn berries. Modern Sap Green is a formulated blend of yellow and green pigments that approximates the warm, naturalistic green tone of the original, without the poor lightfastness of the historical version.

Can I use Dimension Acrylic Sap Green with a palette knife?

Yes. Palette knife application is one of the primary uses for Dimension Acrylic Premium. The ultra-thick formula sits firm on the knife, deposits a clean hard-edged layer on the surface, and holds the shape of each mark as it dries without slumping. Apply straight from the tube for maximum texture and sharp ridges.

Can Sap Green be used for portrait backgrounds?

Yes. Lightened with Titanium White, Sap Green gives a muted, sage-like background that works well behind warm flesh tones in portrait painting. It is less assertive as a background than bright greens.

How long does Dimension Acrylic Sap Green take to dry?

Thin applications dry in 20-30 minutes. Heavy impasto builds applied with a palette knife can take 1-2 hours to dry fully. Drying time extends in cold or humid conditions. Do not apply a second thick layer over the first until the lower layer has dried completely to the touch.

What surfaces can I use Dimension Acrylic Sap Green on?

Canvas, board, wood, air-dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather, and most rigid plastics. For best adhesion on non-porous or slick surfaces, apply a coat of gesso or acrylic primer first. Dimension Acrylic Premium is compatible with all Mont Marte acrylic mediums, gels, and impasto pastes.
