Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium Hookers Green Deep 75ml Heavy Body Acrylic Paint
Our everyday low price
Hookers Green Deep is the deep, dark naturalistic green in the Dimension Acrylic Premium range, named after the nineteenth-century botanical illustrator William Hooker who popularised a similar tone for botanical watercolour work. It delivers the exact quality of dense shadow foliage, the dark interior of a hedge, and the deeply shaded green of a conifer or cypress canopy. Based on a blend of PG7, PY74, and PBk7, it is fully opaque and deeply coloured, ready to use as the darkest foliage tone in a landscape palette without further mixing. In the ultra-thick heavy body formula, it holds knife marks and impasto texture without slumping. Dries to a gloss finish with a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.
What Makes This Colour Essential
Mixing with Hookers Green Deep
Hookers Green Deep is most useful as the dark anchor of a foliage value system, mixing toward lighter and warmer tones for the full foliage range.

Dimension Acrylic Premium is their flagship heavy body range: an ultra-thick, high-viscosity acrylic formulated for impasto work, palette knife painting, and any technique that demands a paint that holds its shape. Who was Hooker and why is this green named after him?
William Hooker (1779-1832) was a British botanical illustrator and horticulturist who used a characteristic dark, warm green as a key tone in botanical painting. The colour "Hookers Green" became associated with this tone and remains a named colour in many artists' paint ranges.
Can I use Dimension Acrylic Hookers Green Deep with a palette knife?
Yes. Palette knife application is one of the primary uses for Dimension Acrylic Premium. The ultra-thick formula sits firm on the knife, deposits a clean hard-edged layer on the surface, and holds the shape of each mark as it dries without slumping. Apply straight from the tube for maximum texture and sharp ridges.
Is Hookers Green Deep suitable as a standalone foliage colour?
Yes. Used straight from the tube, it represents the shadow end of a naturalistic foliage palette. For a more complete foliage system, combine it with Sap Green for mid-tones and Emerald Green or Lemon Yellow for highlights.
How long does Dimension Acrylic Hookers Green Deep take to dry?
Thin applications dry in 20-30 minutes. Heavy impasto builds applied with a palette knife can take 1-2 hours to dry fully. Drying time extends in cold or humid conditions. Do not apply a second thick layer over the first until the lower layer has dried completely to the touch.
What surfaces can I use Dimension Acrylic Hookers Green Deep on?
Canvas, board, wood, air-dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather, and most rigid plastics. For best adhesion on non-porous or slick surfaces, apply a coat of gesso or acrylic primer first. Dimension Acrylic Premium is compatible with all Mont Marte acrylic mediums, gels, and impasto pastes.
