Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium
Turquoise 75ml
Vivid tropical blue-green: the colour of shallow ocean, glacial water, and contemporary bold colour.

Turquoise is the vivid blue-green in the Dimension Acrylic Premium range, based on a blend of PB15:3 (Phthalo Blue) and PG7 (Phthalo Green). It delivers the exact hue of shallow tropical ocean, glacial lake water, and vivid mid-century colour, with an intensity that is impossible to mix convincingly from standard blue and green pigments alone. Its semi-transparent quality gives it a glowing, luminous depth in thick impasto application. In the ultra-thick heavy body formula, it holds knife ridges and sculptural texture without slumping. Dries to a gloss finish with a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.

★ Art Shed Staff Tip
Turquoise straight from the tube is the fastest route to tropical ocean. For shallow water over white sand, add a small amount of Titanium White to lighten toward aqua. For deeper ocean, shift toward Phthalo Blue. Mixed with Emerald Green, it gives the rich colour of a coral sea passage.

What Makes This Colour Essential

Consistency
Ultra-Thick Heavy Body
Turquoise delivers the full ultra-thick Dimension Acrylic Premium formula. It holds palette knife ridges and impasto texture in permanently sculptural form.
Vibrancy
Vivid Tropical Blue-Green
The pre-mixed Turquoise delivers a vivid, fully saturated blue-green that would be difficult to match from component blue and green pigments. It reads as tropical water and vivid contemporary colour from the tube.
Transparency
Luminous Depth in Thick Application
PB15:3 and PG7 are both transparent pigments. Turquoise has a glowing, luminous quality in thick impasto application that makes it particularly effective for water passages where depth and light need to coexist.
Lightfastness
Blue Wool Level 7+ / ASTM I
Rated at Blue Wool Level 7 or above (equivalent to ASTM I), Dimension Acrylic Premium Turquoise is formulated to remain unchanged for more than 100 years under museum-quality lighting conditions. Purpose-built for archival and professional work.

About Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium

Founded in Australia in 2002, Mont Marte creates high-quality fine art materials for students, hobbyists, and professional artists worldwide. Dimension Acrylic Premium is their flagship heavy body range: an ultra-thick, high-viscosity acrylic formulated for impasto work, palette knife painting, and any technique that demands a paint that holds its shape. With a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating (equivalent to ASTM I), the 48-colour range is built for serious, permanent work. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.

Is Turquoise a useful colour in non-tropical subjects?

Yes. Turquoise is widely used in abstract and contemporary painting as a bold colour field. It is also useful for the blue-green quality of shadowed ice, certain gemstone tones, and vibrant decorative work across many subject areas.

Can I use Dimension Acrylic Turquoise with a palette knife?

Yes. Palette knife application is one of the primary uses for Dimension Acrylic Premium. The ultra-thick formula sits firm on the knife, deposits a clean hard-edged layer on the surface, and holds the shape of each mark as it dries without slumping. Apply straight from the tube for maximum texture and sharp ridges.

Can I mix Turquoise from Phthalo Blue and Phthalo Green?

You can approximate it, but a pre-mixed Turquoise is more consistent and more saturated than most hand-mixed results. The exact ratio of PB15:3 to PG7 in the tube is optimised for the vivid, balanced hue.

How long does Dimension Acrylic Turquoise take to dry?

Thin applications dry in 20-30 minutes. Heavy impasto builds applied with a palette knife can take 1-2 hours to dry fully. Drying time extends in cold or humid conditions. Do not apply a second thick layer over the first until the lower layer has dried completely to the touch.

What surfaces can I use Dimension Acrylic Turquoise on?

Canvas, board, wood, air-dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather, and most rigid plastics. For best adhesion on non-porous or slick surfaces, apply a coat of gesso or acrylic primer first. Dimension Acrylic Premium is compatible with all Mont Marte acrylic mediums, gels, and impasto pastes.
