Kent Urban Acrylic Paint Marker 6mm Medium Black
Our everyday low price
Bold outlines that hold a whole piece together. Kent Urban Acrylic Paint Marker 6mm Medium Black is an opaque black acrylic paint marker with a reversible bullet and chisel nib for thick outlines, throw ups, deck graphics and solid black fills.
Why the Kent Urban 6mm Black Earns Its Spot
The 6mm Black is the outline marker for pieces bigger than a blackbook page. The bullet end lays a confident line, and the chisel end opens up to around 5mm for thick strokes and fills.
It is acrylic paint, so it stays dense and black on wood, plastic, metal and canvas.
How to Use Your Kent Urban Paint Marker
- Shake it. Cap on, shake well until the mixing ball rattles freely.
- Prime the nib. On scrap paper, press the nib down gently a few times until the paint flows right to the tip. Do not pump it hard.
- Pick your end. Bullet for even lines and fills, chisel for handstyles and thick and thin strokes. The nib is reversible, so swap ends whenever you need to.
- Test first. Do a few strokes on scrap to check the flow and colour.
- Let it dry, then layer. Water based acrylic dries fast. Wait until it is touch dry before an outline, a shine or another colour.
- Store flat. Click the cap on firmly and store the marker flat.

Getting the Most From a 6mm Medium Nib
The 6mm is the fill and outline size. Lay the chisel end flat and pull long, overlapping strokes for solid letter fills, then use the bullet end for bold outlines.
Let the first coat dry before adding a second, rather than scrubbing over wet paint. Finish fine details and shines with a 3mm Fine once everything is dry.
Project idea: black out the bottom of an old deck in 6mm Black, then letter over it in White once dry. Seal and hang it on the wall.

Questions About the Kent Urban 6mm Black
Is the Kent Urban 6mm Black too thick for detail?
For tiny detail, yes. The bullet end draws roughly 1.2mm to 3mm and the chisel up to about 5mm, so it is made for outlines and fills. Pair it with the 3mm Black for finer lines and the inside details.
What surfaces does the Kent Urban 6mm paint marker work on?
Kent Urban uses water based acrylic paint ink that works on wood, metal, glass, plastic, canvas, fabric, stone and most smooth surfaces. On glossy surfaces like glass and shiny plastic, wipe off any grease first, let each layer dry fully, and seal the piece if it will be handled a lot.
Can I use Kent Urban paint markers outdoors?
Yes. The ink is UV resistant and waterproof once dry, and Kent rates the range for indoor and outdoor use. For anything that lives outside, like a painted deck, a helmet or a piece on a legal wall, a clear outdoor varnish over the top keeps it fresh for longer.
Will Kent Urban paint markers cover black paper?
Yes. The acrylic paint ink is opaque, so it sits on top of black card and dark surfaces instead of soaking in like dye ink. Light colours on very dark backgrounds may need a second coat once the first is dry for full, solid colour.
How should I store Kent Urban paint markers?
Flat, with the caps clicked on firmly. Flat storage keeps the paint spread evenly through the marker so it is ready to go, and a tight cap stops the nib drying out between sessions.
Can I layer and blend Kent Urban colours?
Yes. While the paint is still wet you can blend neighbouring colours on the surface for fades. Once it is touch dry you can layer over it with another colour, an outline or a shine without it lifting.
How do I swap the Kent Urban nib from bullet to chisel?
The nib is reversible, with a bullet tip on one end and a chisel on the other. Cap the marker and give it a shake first, then gently pull the nib out, turn it around and push it back in firmly. Clean fingers or a pair of tweezers make it easy. Prime it on scrap paper before you start again.
Where can I buy Kent Urban paint markers in Australia?

We ship fast Australia wide, and our team are artists who use these products themselves, so ask us anything.
