White gel pens skip and go see through. The 3mm White is opaque acrylic paint, so it sits bright on black paper, dark canvas, painted decks and dark sneakers.

It is also the clean up tool: draw over a messy edge in White, let it dry and keep going.

How to Use Your Kent Urban Paint Marker

  1. Shake it. Cap on, shake well until the mixing ball rattles freely.
  2. Prime the nib. On scrap paper, press the nib down gently a few times until the paint flows right to the tip. Do not pump it hard.
  3. Pick your end. Bullet for even lines and fills, chisel for handstyles and thick and thin strokes. The nib is reversible, so swap ends whenever you need to.
  4. Test first. Do a few strokes on scrap to check the flow and colour.
  5. Let it dry, then layer. Water based acrylic dries fast. Wait until it is touch dry before an outline, a shine or another colour.
  6. Store flat. Click the cap on firmly and store the marker flat.

Getting the Most From a 3mm Fine Nib

The 3mm is the everyday size. Use the bullet end for outlines, sketches and filling small letters, and flip to the chisel end when you want handstyle strokes with real thick and thin.

For bigger pieces, fill the large areas with a 6mm Medium first, let it dry, then come back with the 3mm for outlines, shadows and shines.

Project idea: grab a black sketchbook and do a whole page of characters in 3mm White only. No colour, all line. It forces you to get your shapes right.

Need the same colour in a bolder line? Grab the 6mm Medium White. See every colour in the Kent Urban 3mm Fine paint markers, or browse the full Kent Urban acrylic paint marker range.

Questions About the Kent Urban 3mm White

Does the Kent Urban 3mm White cover black paper?

Yes. It is opaque acrylic paint ink, so it sits on top of black paper and dark surfaces instead of soaking in. For the brightest, most solid white on a big area, let the first coat dry and add a second.

What surfaces does the Kent Urban 3mm paint marker work on?

Kent Urban uses water based acrylic paint ink that works on wood, metal, glass, plastic, canvas, fabric, stone and most smooth surfaces. On glossy surfaces like glass and shiny plastic, wipe off any grease first, let each layer dry fully, and seal the piece if it will be handled a lot.

How do I start a new Kent Urban paint marker?

Shake it well with the cap on until you hear the mixing ball rattle. Then hold it nib down on scrap paper and press the nib gently a few times until the paint flows right to the tip. Do not pump it hard, or it floods. If it ever runs dry mid piece, cap it, shake it and prime it again.

Can I use Kent Urban paint markers on sneakers?

Yes. Kent lists fabric among the surfaces the range works on, and the acrylic ink grips well on canvas sneakers and smooth leather. Clean the area first, build the colour in light layers, let each layer dry fully, and finish with a clear sealer so your design survives scuffs and wear.

Can I use Kent Urban paint markers outdoors?

Yes. The ink is UV resistant and waterproof once dry, and Kent rates the range for indoor and outdoor use. For anything that lives outside, like a painted deck, a helmet or a piece on a legal wall, a clear outdoor varnish over the top keeps it fresh for longer.

Will Kent Urban paint markers cover black paper?

Yes. The acrylic paint ink is opaque, so it sits on top of black card and dark surfaces instead of soaking in like dye ink. Light colours on very dark backgrounds may need a second coat once the first is dry for full, solid colour.

How do I swap the Kent Urban nib from bullet to chisel?

The nib is reversible, with a bullet tip on one end and a chisel on the other. Cap the marker and give it a shake first, then gently pull the nib out, turn it around and push it back in firmly. Clean fingers or a pair of tweezers make it easy. Prime it on scrap paper before you start again.

Where can I buy Kent Urban paint markers in Australia?

We ship fast Australia wide, and our team are artists who use these products themselves, so ask us anything.
