Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium Zinc White 75ml Heavy Body Acrylic Paint
Our everyday low price
Zinc White occupies a unique role in the Dimension Acrylic Premium range: it is the transparent white, and its semi-transparent character makes it the preferred choice whenever the artist needs to soften a colour, lift atmospheric haze into a sky, or build a luminous glaze over a dark passage without losing the underpainting. Based on PW4 (Zinc Oxide), it is cooler and less opaque than Titanium White but considerably less tinting-strong, giving it precise, controllable behaviour when nudging hues. In Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium, Zinc White retains the range's full ultra-thick, high-viscosity body: it sculpts, peaks, and holds texture exactly like every other colour in the 48-colour range. Dries to a gloss finish with a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.
What Makes This Colour Essential
Mixing and Glazing with Zinc White
Zinc White is most powerful when used where transparency matters. Its low tinting strength means adjustments are gradual and controllable, which makes it especially valuable in sky passages, flesh tones, and glazing work.
About Mont Marte Dimension Acrylic Premium
Founded in Australia in 2002, Mont Marte creates high-quality fine art materials for students, hobbyists, and professional artists worldwide. Dimension Acrylic Premium is their flagship heavy body range: an ultra-thick, high-viscosity acrylic formulated for impasto work, palette knife painting, and any technique that demands a paint that holds its shape. With a Blue Wool Level 7+ lightfast rating (equivalent to ASTM I), the 48-colour range is built for serious, permanent work. Available in 75ml tubes and 250ml pots.
What is the difference between Zinc White and Titanium White in Dimension Acrylic?
Titanium White (PW6) is fully opaque with very high tinting strength: it covers completely and shifts any mix powerfully toward white. Zinc White (PW4) is semi-transparent with lower tinting strength: it cools and softens colours gently without dominating the mix. Both are available in the full ultra-thick Dimension Acrylic Premium heavy body formula.
Can I use Dimension Acrylic Zinc White with a palette knife?
Yes. Palette knife application is one of the primary uses for Dimension Acrylic Premium. The ultra-thick formula sits firm on the knife, deposits a clean hard-edged layer on the surface, and holds the shape of each mark as it dries without slumping. Apply straight from the tube for maximum texture and sharp ridges.
Can I use Zinc White for glazing in heavy body acrylic?
Yes. Zinc White's semi-transparent pigment character makes it well suited to building soft glazes and atmospheric passages. Apply it over a dry impasto layer to create the effect of diffused light or atmospheric haze. The ultra-thick body means even thin passes leave texture.
How long does Dimension Acrylic Zinc White take to dry?
Thin applications dry in 20-30 minutes. Heavy impasto builds applied with a palette knife can take 1-2 hours to dry fully. Drying time extends in cold or humid conditions. Do not apply a second thick layer over the first until the lower layer has dried completely to the touch.
What surfaces can I use Dimension Acrylic Zinc White on?
Canvas, board, wood, air-dry clay, plaster, cardboard, paper, leather, and most rigid plastics. For best adhesion on non-porous or slick surfaces, apply a coat of gesso or acrylic primer first. Dimension Acrylic Premium is compatible with all Mont Marte acrylic mediums, gels, and impasto pastes.
