Gamblin Artist's Oil Colours are pigment rich and ground in refined linseed oil, with no fillers. That means stronger mixes, cleaner tints and paint that holds a brushmark.

The nine colours are a classic palette painters have relied on for centuries. Earths for warmth and structure, cadmiums for punch, alizarin and ultramarine for depth, viridian for cool greens. Learn to mix with these and there is very little you cannot paint.

Getting Started

Tone the panel with a thin wash of Burnt Umber and let it dry before you start. A mid tone ground makes lights and darks easier to judge. Thin early layers with Galkyd Medium, then add more oil as you build up.
