Gamblin 1980 Oil Colours Introductory Set - 8 x 37ml with Panel
Our everyday low price
Oil painting has a reputation for being fussy, smelly and expensive to start. This set exists to prove all three wrong. Eight full size tubes of Gamblin 1980 Oil Colours, a tube of Solvent-Free Gel and a primed birch panel, so the only thing left to add is you.
Why This Set
Gamblin 1980 Oil Colours are named after the year Robert Gamblin started making paint. They use real pigments in refined linseed oil, with marble dust added to stretch the pigment, so they handle like proper oil colour at a friendly price.
The palette is chosen with real thought: warm and cool reds, a bright and an earthy yellow, a deep blue, a strong green, black and white. That is enough to mix skin tones, skies and landscapes without buying an extra tube.

Questions About the Gamblin 1980 Introductory Set
Is this set good for complete beginners?
Yes. It was designed as a first oil set. The colours cover a full mixing palette, the gel removes the need for solvents, and the panel means you can start straight away.
What is the difference between Gamblin 1980 and Gamblin Artist's Oil Colours?
1980 Oil Colours are Gamblin's value range, with marble dust added to extend the pigment. Artist's Oil Colours are their professional range with more pigment and no extenders.
Do I need turps to use these oils?
No. The Solvent-Free Gel thins the paint and speeds drying without solvent. You can clean brushes with oil and then soap and water.
How long do oil paints take to dry?
Thin layers are usually touch dry in a few days, faster with the Solvent-Free Gel. Thick paint can take weeks to dry right through, which is normal for oils.
Where can I buy Gamblin oil paint in Australia?
Right here. Art Shed Online is an authorised Australian stockist of Gamblin, buying through the official Australian distributor, so you get genuine stock, never a grey import. We ship fast Australia wide, and our team are artists who use these products themselves, so ask us anything.
