Big skies need big paper. The Art Spectrum 100% Cotton Watercolour Spiral Pad A3+ gives you 30 large sheets of 300gsm European 100% cotton paper, acid free and FSC certified, with an Eastern Rosella on the cover.

This is the pad for landscapes, seascapes and loose florals where the water does half the work. Cotton at this size lets a wash travel and settle the way it should.

★ Art Shed Staff Tip
Wet the whole sheet with clean water first, then drop colour in and tilt the board. Let gravity mix the sky for you. On cotton the colour spreads softly instead of blooming in hard rings.

Large washes are where cheap paper gives up. Cotton holds the water evenly, so a big graded sky stays smooth and a wet in wet passage melts together instead of drying in patches. At 300gsm the sheet has the weight to cope with it.

Bigger paper wants bigger brushes. A large mop or flat from our watercolour brushes and a well stocked palette of watercolour paints will get you across an A3+ sheet before the wash dries.

Why We Love the Big Rosella

  • Room for the water. A3+ cotton lets washes move and settle naturally.
  • Built for all techniques. Wet in wet, glazing, lifting and dry brush.
  • Frame ready. Clean perforated edges for exhibition and sale work.
  • Thirty large sheets. Generous for a pad this size.

How We Use It

Remove the sheet and tape it to a rigid board before big wet work. Paint with the board slightly tilted so washes run one way, and let everything dry flat before you peel the tape.

Mix more paint than you think you need. Running out halfway across a large wash is the most common way to get a hard edge you did not want.

Is the A3+ pad good for landscapes?

Yes. Large cotton sheets suit landscapes, seascapes and any painting that needs big, even washes.
