Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolour Set - Granulating Colours 2
Our everyday low price
The second set in Kuretake's granulating series brings five Cosmic colours to your palette. Each colour is made from two different pigments that pull apart as the paint dries, leaving soft, speckled texture that is perfect for skies, foliage, stone and anything that needs a natural, organic finish.
Why This Set
Gansai Tambi are traditional Japanese watercolours with a slightly different binder from western paints. They are rich and creamy, can be applied thickly like gouache or thinned into transparent washes, and they stay vivid when mixed.

Getting Started
Wet each pan with a few drops of clean water and let it sit for a moment to soften. Mix plenty of water into your colour on the palette, then paint and let the wash dry undisturbed to see the granulation appear. The degree of separation depends on your paper and the amount of water, so test on a scrap first. Small cracks or air bubbles in a pan are normal and do not affect the paint.
Complete the series with Granulating Colours (Aurora) and Granulating Colours 3 (Lunar), or browse all Gansai Tambi pans and sets.

Questions About Gansai Tambi Granulating Colours 2
What colours are in Kuretake Granulating Colours 2?
Cosmic Red, Cosmic Olive, Cosmic Green, Cosmic Blue and Cosmic Violet, plus an empty pan for mixing.
What does granulating mean?
Each colour contains two pigments with different particle sizes. As the paint dries they separate, leaving a soft, speckled texture instead of a flat wash.
How is it different from sets 1 and 3?
Same granulating formula, different colours. Set 1 is the Aurora colours, set 3 is the Lunar colours and set 2 is the Cosmic colours, so together they make 15 granulating shades.
How do I get the strongest effect?
Use plenty of water, let the wash dry without fiddling, and paint on textured watercolour paper.
Where can I buy Kuretake Gansai Tambi in Australia?
