Not a trained pilot? Try these Handy Hints:

1. Check the Balance

• Foam planes are extremely sensitive to weight distribution.

• If the nose is too heavy, it will dive quickly; if too light, it may stall or loop.

• Try adding a tiny piece of tape or a small paperclip to the nose or tail to adjust balance.

2. Adjust the Wings

• Slightly bending the back edges of the wings upwards (dihedral angle) can improve stability.

• Make sure the wings are level and straight; twisted wings can cause the plane to spin or roll.

3. Launch Technique

• Throw too hard: the plane flips or stalls.

• Throw too soft: it barely glides.

• Aim for a smooth, level flick with your wrist rather than a strong arm throw.

• A gentle upward angle of about 5–10° usually works best.

4. Trim the Plane

• If it veers left, bend the left wingtip up slightly or the right wingtip down slightly.

• If it veers right, do the opposite.

• Small adjustments make a big difference.

5. Environment Matters

• Indoors is best for lightweight foam planes to avoid wind interference.

• Outdoors: pick a calm day; even a slight breeze can drastically affect flight.
