Room to get properly messy. The Art Spectrum Tan Linen Hard Cover Mixed Media Journal 20 x 20cm holds 24 hefty sheets (48 pages) on a generous 250gsm square, bound in a tan linen hard cover. This is the art journal for layering, gluing, stamping and scribbling until a page looks like you.

Open it flat and a spread becomes a 40 x 20cm canvas. That is plenty of space for a full collage, a mood board or one bold piece that runs right across the fold.

★ Art Shed Staff Tip
Build pages in layers, the way we do in our own art journals. Start with a scrap of patterned paper or a loose background colour, let it dry, then draw over the top in ink or marker. Finish with a few words. Pages built in layers always look richer than ones done in one go.

48 Pages · 24 Sheets
Lots of pages to grow a full art journal.
Cover
Tan Linen Hard Cover
A sturdy linen cover that stands up to a desk full of supplies.

The square is the art journaller's favourite shape for good reason. It balances images and words nicely, photographs well for sharing, and suits everything from a single bold portrait to a busy page of cut paper and lettering.

250gsm paper has the body to take glue and collage without going limp. We like it with acrylic paint pens, inks, light layers of acrylics and a glue stick that never leaves the desk. Keep the very wet techniques light and let each layer dry before the next.

Why We Love the 20cm Square

  • Space to layer. Big enough for backgrounds, collage, drawing and lettering on one page.
  • Spreads that wow. Open flat for a 40 x 20cm double page.
  • Built for mixing. 250gsm mixed media paper, so you are not stuck with dry media only.
  • Looks great on the shelf. A row of linen journals is the best kind of art library.

How We Use It

Work on a few spreads at once. While one background dries, start collage on the next. Close the journal only when every page is dry, and pop a sheet of baking paper between heavy collage pages if anything is still tacky.
