Using Gesso to prepare your canvas or painting board will provide a smoother surface for painting, which improves the ability to blend and apply the paint where you need it to be. This Black Gesso from the Royal Talens 'Amsterdam' brand can be added to any other medium for textural work, and provides a less textured background when blocking in your design. Use up to three coats, depending on the texture required, wait until it is fully dried before proceeding with a another coat.
