Carve it, ink it, print it. The Pebeo Linocut Workshop Box Set has everything you need to discover linocut printing: two linoleum blocks, carving gouges, a transfer medium, two water based inks in contrasting colours, an ink roller, printing paper, ready to use designs and a step by step technical guide. Water based inks mean easy clean up, so you can print at the kitchen table.

★ Art Shed Staff Tip
Always carve away from your body and keep your other hand behind the blade. Start with shallow cuts and go deeper slowly. Lino is much easier to carve when it is warm, so leave it in the sun or near a heater for a few minutes first.

Step by step from design to print.

Linocut is one of the oldest and most rewarding ways to make prints. You carve your design into a linoleum block, roll ink over it and press it onto paper. Every print is an original, and one block can make a whole series.

Pebeo has put the entire process into one box, from transferring your design to pulling your first print, so beginners can start straight away and experienced makers can play with colour and layering.

Getting the Most Out of Your Linocut Set

Use the transfer medium to put your design on the block, then remember: what you carve away stays white, and what you leave prints in colour. Your print will come out as a mirror image, so reverse any lettering.

Roll the ink thin and even until it looks like velvet, then press your paper down firmly with the back of a spoon or your palm.
