Jo Sonja 250ml Texile Medium

The range of Jo Sonja's mediums have every project covered, from varnishes to paint additives, craft affects and this great medium for your textile projects.

Textile medium allows permanent non-fading painting on natural and non-synthetic fabric.

It is only necessary if the fabric to be decorated is to be laundred or dry cleaned.

Fabric containing a minimum of 50% cotton is recommended for best adhesion.

• Note:  Launder articles with mild detergent and delicate heat.

• Caution:  Some cleaning chemicals may affect colours.

Features:

• 250ml Bottle with flip cap

• Can be used on garments, calico bags, denim, canvas and natural fibres

• Dries in 24 hours

• Approximate coverage: 1 ml = 188 sq cm

Directions:

• Pre-wash fabric to remove sizing. Do not use fabric softener.

• Mix a minimum of 2 parts Chroma’s Jo Sonja Artists’ Colors with 1 part Textile Medium. Painting a test strip is recommended.

• The addition of Textile Medium may stiffen painted area.  This will soften with washing.

• Apply to fabric ensuring paint penetration of fibers.  Allow to dry a minimum of 24 hours.

• All Purpose Sealer may be applied to the edges of your cut fabric to prevent fraying. Seal 1/4” (1/2 cm) beyond cut edges.

Heat Setting Instructions:

• Excessive temperature can cause color change; pre-testing is recommended as follows:

• Using your dry test strip, cover painted area with a cloth or brown paper.  Start with low heat setting, gradually increasing temperature until color begins to “shift”.  Then lower the temperature slightly and make note of your iron setting.

• Iron decorated area for a minimum of 2 minutes on this setting.

Tips for completing your piece in stages:

• Don’t let it dry out: If you’ll be back soon, try to keep the area a little damp so blending stays easy.

• Slow it down: Mix in a bit of Retarder Medium if you need more time before the paint dries.

• Stop in smart spots: Finish at edges or colour changes so it’s easier to pick up where you left off.

• Working over dry paint: You can always add more paint later, it just might not blend quite as smoothly as when it’s still wet.
