Jacquard Cyanotype Sensitiser Set - Part A & B

Create unique artworks with the timeless beauty of cyanotype, where science, photography, and nature combine through the power of the sun.

Unlock the magic of sun printing with the Jacquard Cyanotype Set Part A & B, a creative and easy-to-use kit for artists, photographers, makers, and curious beginners. Using the power of UV light, this traditional photographic process transforms everyday objects, natural materials, and photographic negatives into striking cyan blue prints.

Simply coat your chosen surface, place objects such as leaves, flowers, tools, lace, stones, or other textured materials on top, and expose to sunlight to reveal beautifully detailed silhouettes and patterns. The cyanotype process is simple, rewarding, and full of creative possibilities, making it ideal for paper crafts, fabric printing, mixed media artwork, photography projects, quilting, and educational activities.

For photographers and advanced artists, the set can also be used with digitally printed photographic negatives to create detailed, full resolution cyanotype images on paper or fabric. The forgiving nature of cyanotype makes it an enjoyable technique for all skill levels, from first experiments to professional creative projects.

  • Allow coated paper or fabric to dry completely before exposure

  • Ensure objects are pressed firmly against the surface for sharp details

  • Use flat, opaque objects such as leaves, lace, plants and small objects for best results

  • Exposure time will vary depending on sunlight, season, location and weather conditions

  • Bright direct sunlight gives the strongest results; cloudy days may require longer exposure

  • Rinse prints thoroughly in cool water after exposure to reveal the image

  • Allow finished prints to dry fully, the blue colour will deepen as the print oxidises

  • Avoid storing finished cyanotypes in prolonged direct sunlight as colours may fade over time

  • Test your materials first, different papers, fabrics and objects can create different results
