Fabriano Artistico Enhanced Watercolour Pads are the perfect surface choice for both beginners to watercolour and professional alike. This premium watercolour paper is traditional white, high quality and mould made with 100% cotton.

It is sized internally and externally for excellent absorption of colours and allowing overlaying washes in vibrant colour.

The ‘Enhanced’ feature references improved durability, allowing artists to remove colour using a wet brush, helpful for modifying artworks and adding highlights. It is also more resistant to scrubbing and scratching due to the long fibres used to produce the paper.

For protecting the longevity of your artwork, Fabriano paper is acid free which prevents degradation and yellowing over time. Keeping environmental concerns in mind, this product is chlorine free and uses plant-based sizing making it vegan friendly.

About the Brand

Founded in the 13th century in Italy, the Fabriano Paper Mill is one of the world’s oldest and most renowned paper makers. Legend says the art of papermaking arrived in Fabriano when locals learned techniques from Arab prisoners captured at the port of Ancona. By 1264, Fabriano was producing high-quality paper made from cotton fibres and animal gelatin sizing, marking the beginning of a papermaking revolution in Europe. Innovators in watermarking, Fabriano papermakers pioneered the use of unique “invisible water signs” for authenticity and quality.

Even Michelangelo trusted Fabriano paper for his letters in 1514. In 1782, Pietro Miliani united local papermakers under the Cartiere Pietro Miliani Fabriano, which gained international acclaim, winning a gold medal at London’s Great Exhibition in 1851. After decades of growth, the mill became Cartiere Miliani Fabriano in 1947 and continues to set the standard for fine Italian paper.
