About the Dolphin Design

A cheerful dolphin glides through the water in the centre, surrounded by tall seaweed, shells, starfish and rising bubbles. The box picture shows it painted in aqua, green and pink, but any ocean colours work.

How 3D Relief Painting Works

1. Study the picture. Look at the finished image on the box so you know which colour goes where on the raised surface.
2. Paint the background first. Start with the large flat areas, then work up to the raised shapes.
3. Follow the shapes. The raised relief shows you where each part of the picture is, so there are no lines to follow.
4. Add details last. Use the tip of the brush for eyes, edges and highlights once the base colours are dry.
5. Let it dry and display. Leave it to dry flat, then stand it on a shelf or hang it up.
