Blackwattle Paper Clay White Stoneware 10kg

Blackwattle White Stoneware Paper Clay is a high-quality white-firing clay with the addition of cellulose fibres, giving it excellent plasticity and increased dry strength. It is suitable for both handbuilding and wheel throwing, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of ceramic work.

The addition of paper pulp makes this clay particularly useful for projects where flexibility and dry strength are important. It can also be used to repair breakages by applying paper clay slip.

This is a high-temperature paper clay and requires stoneware firing temperatures when vitrification is required.

Key Features:

  • 10kg bag

  • High-quality white-firing stoneware clay

  • Suitable for handbuilding and wheel throwing

  • Contains cellulose fibres

  • Excellent plasticity

  • Increased dry strength

  • Suitable for high-temperature paper clay applications

  • Breakages can be repaired using paper clay slip

  • 80 mesh*

*this clay has been passed through a screen with 80 openings per linear inch. A higher mesh number means finer particles; a lower number means coarser particles, which means the clay has a relatively fine, consistent particle size. This contributes to a smooth working texture while still retaining the characteristics of a stoneware body.

Firing Information:

  • Recommended bisque firing: 1050°C

  • Glaze firing: 1260–1280°C

  • Approximate shrinkage: 8% bisque, 9% earthenware, 12% midfire, 14% stoneware

  • Higher firing temperatures are required for vitrification

A versatile white stoneware paper clay offering excellent plasticity and dry strength for both handbuilt and wheel-thrown work.
