Art Shed is Melbourne's go-to destination for art supplies, creative workshops and hands-on demonstrations. Conveniently located at 475 Warrigal Road, Moorabbin - just a short drive from the CBD - our in-store events bring together artists, crafters and curious beginners of all ages and skill levels.
We run a rotating calendar of art classes in Melbourne covering a wide range of mediums - including acrylic painting, watercolour, oil painting, pastel drawing, mixed media and more. Our classes are deliberately kept small (typically 10-14 people) so every participant receives personalised guidance from our expert artist instructors.
We also host regular free workshops and art demonstrations in-store - the perfect low-pressure way to discover a new medium, pick up a technique, or get inspired. No booking required, just walk in. These sessions cover everything from selling your art and building an audience to drawing fundamentals, oil painting and beyond.
All of our kids' art classes and school holiday workshops are facilitated by qualified instructors who hold valid Working with Children checks. Classes are beginner-friendly, structured around fun and creativity, and all materials are provided. What's the difference between a Demo, a Workshop and a Class?
Free Demos are casual drop-ins - no booking, no cost. Watch one of our artists demonstrate a product, technique or medium live in-store. Free Workshops are more in-depth sessions covering a topic or skill in detail - still free and no booking required, walk in. Paid Classes are structured, hands-on sessions with limited spots where you actively participate from start to finish. Bookings are essential as spots fill fast - and you'll leave with something you actually made!
Where are Art Shed's classes and demos held?
All of our in-store events are held at Art Shed, 475 Warrigal Road, Moorabbin VIC 3189. We have free parking available on-site. We're open 7 days: Mon-Sat 9 am-5 pm; Sunday 10 am-4 pm.
Do I need to bring anything to a class?
For most of our classes, all art materials are provided - paint, brushes, paper, canvases, aprons and more. Each event listing will specify exactly what's included and whether you should bring anything (usually just yourself and clothes you don't mind getting creative with!).
Are your classes suitable for absolute beginners?
Absolutely! The majority of our workshops and demos are designed for beginners. Our instructors guide you through every step, so no prior experience is needed. Each event listing shows the recommended skill level so you can choose the right session for you.
Do you run art classes for kids?
Yes! We run kids' art classes and school holiday workshops throughout the year, suitable for children from ages 5 and up. Our kids' classes are run by qualified instructors with Working with Children checks. We also host free family events in-store. Check our listings above for upcoming children's events.
How do I book a class?
Most of our paid classes are booked through Eventbrite - click the "Book on Eventbrite" button on the event you're interested in. Free workshops, demos and drop-in events don't require a booking - just come in during the scheduled time. If you have any questions, give us a call on 1300 785 406 or visit us in-store.
Do you offer discounts on classes?
