Free Art Workshops and Demo's Melbourne

Art Shed Moorabbin holds free art demo's every second Saturday between 10am and 1pm

Art workshops and demo's are run by Art Shed's very talented Andrew Monk.

Andrew has nearly a decade of formal training in Visual Arts and is more than happy to answer any questions you may have!

Andrew is Art Shed’s Mixed Media Fanatic!

From Watercolour, Acrylic, Charcoal, Pastels, Sculpting, Printmaking, Calligraphy and Illustration to Photography, Andrew has dabbled in them all.

After completing 4 years of Visual Arts at TAFE, he proceeded into University where he completed a Bachelor of Honours in Painting & Photography, Andrew is now trying to break out into the Prestigious Australian Gallery scene.

Art Shed's demonstrations are held in the main part of the Moorabbin store.

They are FREE, informal demonstrations, run by either our talented, artistic staff or local guest artists.

The demonstrations are fun and relaxed, covering a wide range of age groups, different mediums and materials.

No booking is required - simply pop into our store! However, there is limited seating available, so if you require it, please arrive a bit earlier to secure a seat.

There will be Q&A time with the artist at the end of each demonstration.

In this free demonstration, Andrew will show you everything you need to know about charcoal

Andrew will discuss and show:

 Basic Charcoal Concepts and Techniques:
What are the differences between willow & compressed charcoal
What are the advantages between pencil & sticks
What are tinted charcoals, white charcoal & water-soluble charcoals
Different types of Erasers & what they do
How to sharpen your charcoal
What is fixative, and how to use it
What papers to choose.
Some basic Drawing Techniques to try with Charcoals

Why not bring along your own Charcoals and a Sketching book (or pick them up in store on the day!) and try out the Techniques that Andrew is teaching, while he teaches it!

Andrew will do 3 x 1 hour sessions with a 30min Q & A after each one.
